Story of the Hunt

My son Wayne, grandson Tommy and I went hunting Saturday morning to one of our favorite honey holes. We walked through the woods to the field and peeked out. Two Toms were strutting with some hens but they were headed back around the field where we had gone into the woods.

We went back around to head them off but as we approached the field again they had turned around to go the other way. Wayne and Tommy went back to where we had first seen them and I set up just in the woods at the edge of the field. The boys called me on the walkie talkie and said the turkeys were coming my way. A hen came first ,then another hen came. She saw me and started to puck and she had me pinned down. She was only 15 feet from me but finally she went into the field with the toms. Then I could get my gun up and waited for the big tom to turn.

He turned and I downed him. I radioed the boys and they came around to me. What a great hunt!
