Story of the Hunt

by Matt Paduano

This is my daughter Alyssa's first actual turkey hunt. This was held during NY's youth weekend turkey season which was April 24-25, 2004. My friend Brian Sanson, called in four mature toms (two at a time).

She missed the first of the big toms at 6:30 AM. She got one of the two that were called in at 7:30 AM. She turned 13 the day after the she got her bird. The "worst" part of the whole ordeal was that I was videotaping the entire time the toms were strutting, gobbling, scratching, and when she got her bird I got the kill shot.....problem was I never hit the record button on the camcorder. Oh well, I'll have it for her next bird.
