I had hunted all morning but only heard one turkey due to the overcast skies. At about 11:00 am, the sun started to shine thru the clouds. I was on the hill when I heard the bird gobble. Myself and my partner went down into the woods and set up.

I started calling and the bird answered so I sat back and waited. Then I saw a hen come out in the power line opening and cross over to the other set of woods. I purred once and he gobbled again. My friend yelped a few times and the bird was gobbling but he was in his strut zone. I then moved over about 60 yards going away from the bird. I made 3 soft yelps and then he double gobbled. I then started to scratch in the leaves and made some very soft purts.

I then noticed his tail fan coming up over a hill. He gobbled twice and was in range. I shot him at 20 yards in full strut. My friend was using a mouth call, I was using a wing bone call made by Doug Totty ( The Eastern Assassin) The turkey would hang up when the my friend would call with the mouth call, but the wingbone was so soft and not raspy, the gobbler came right to it.
