Bruce With a Nice Gobbler

American Friction was established in 1998 by call maker Bruce A Wurth.

Bruce started hunting deer and pheasants with his father in 1962 and has been hunting turkeys in California for over 27 years. He has also hunted turkeys in Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, Florida, Wyoming, Montana and has harvested all 4 sub-species of wild turkeys in America.

In 1989, he joined the National Wild Turkey Federation and has served the NWTF in various positions through the years including:

1990 thru 2000 -- California State Board of Directors of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

1993 & 1994 -- Vice-President of the California State Board, National Wild Turkey Federation.

1995 & 1996 -- President & Chairman of the Board, California State Board, National Wild Turkey Federation.

1992 to 2001 -- California's Senior District Director for the National Wild Turkey Federation.

He has received numerous awards for his volunteer efforts including the highly prestigious Roger M. Latham Sportsman's Service Award given by the National Wild Turkey Federation each year to an outstanding volunteer in America.

Bruce is also a very accomplished caller and has won or placed in numerous turkey calling contests, including winning the California state wild turkey calling championship on two occasions. He has guided turkey hunts on the Tajon Ranch for the California Department of Fish & Game public draw turkey hunts and conducted guided turkey hunts for the National Wild Turkey Federation. He has conducted numerous turkey hunting seminars and clinics for the National Wild Turkey Federation, Solano County, The International Sportsmen's Exposition and sports shops through California.

Besides his work with the NWTF, he has been appointed by the National Rifle Association as a Turkey Hunting Clinic Instructor and is a certified California Department of Fish & Game Hunter Education Instructor.

Bruce has published an article on how to hunt wild turkeys. He also played a key role in putting together the California Department of Fish & Game's publication "California Turkey Hunter's Guide."

In August of 1998, Bruce started his call business, American Friction. His turkey calls have won numerous 1st place awards. In February of 2002 at the National Wild Turkey Federation convention, his signature series Cut-N-Paddle won the prestigious Gibson award. In 2003 his Rock Bottom glass call won the prestigious D.D. Adams award. Bruce is the first and only call maker to have received both of these national awards.
