Legal to Take: Bearded
turkeys or gobblers
For the first time since 1998,
Holmes County in Floridas Panhandle
will have a turkey season. March 18-20, hunters
will be able to take one gobbler during a
limited, three-day spring turkey season.
Shooting Hours: One-half
hour before sunrise until sunset on private
lands. One-half hour before sunrise until
1 p.m. on wildlife management areas, wildlife
environmental areas and public use areas.
Daily Bag and Possession
Limits: Bag and possession limits for
turkey during the Spring Turkey Season are:
daily limit one, season limit two, possession
limit two.
Hunting Methods: All
legal firearms including bows and arrows,
muzzleloading guns, crossbows and handguns.
Decoys may be used.
Prohibitions: Hunting
turkeys with dogs, hunting turkeys in the
Spring Turkey Season after sunset on private
lands, hunting turkeys in the Spring Turkey
Season after 1 p.m. on wildlife management
areas, wildlife environmental areas and public
use areas, shooting turkeys while they are
on the roost, the use of recorded turkey calls,
taking by the aid of baiting or taking if
the hunter is less than 100 yards from any
game-feeding station.
