The Anthony's grew up on a farm in
Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and spent
many hours hunting deer and turkey.
Buzze continued farming and Jay went
to work for the Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation. They both enjoyed
woodworking and began making calls during
the 1950's.
They finally applied for and received
a patent on their unique scratch box
turkey call in 1968. It was called Tony's
Turkey Talker and came in a white box
with a picture of a standing gobbler
on the front. Their earliest calls did
not have the patent number on them while
the ones made after 1968 had the patent
number on the box and the front of the
call.

The Anthony's
produced many calls in the 50's
and 60's before finally getting
their patent in 1968.
This particular
call was made in Punxsutawney,
PA, where the Anthony's family
farm was located, before they
had a patent number so I assume
it is actually pre-1968.

This is another
early call that was made in Austin,
PA. The old Punxsutawney, PA address
on the instructions sheet has
an Austin, PA address label covering
it. The lid on the box is also
a little different since they
used a sticker with "Tony's
Turkey Talker" on the box
instead of just directly printing
on the box like they did in the
above version.
Very rare call.

The later calls
came in the same white box as
the one shown above. These boxes,
however, had the patent number
on them and the call did also.
They were made in Austin, Pennsylvania.
I am not sure
how long they continued selling
the calls.
