Neil
Cost has been recognized by his callmaking peers and
turkey hunters everywhere as one of the finest turkey
call makers ever born. His calls are being treated
as works-of-art by many people today and are a great
investment as collector items. Neil Cost passed away
on May 29, 2002 but his calls will live on forever
with this limited edition book of 1500 copies. You
might not ever lay your hands on one of his calls
but you can own this great tribute and photographic
treasury of Neil Cost turkey calls.
This book is a photographic
history of Neil Cost's callmaking career with 230
pages of professional, full-color photos that fill
up the 8 1/2" X 11" pages. The author, Michael
Marks, traveled far and wide to meet with many of
the top turkey call collectors in the country and
had their Cost collections professionally photographed.
Each call featured has a large photo and a short history
and description of the call with attention to its
rarity as well.
The book is divided up
into several sections with each section dedicated
to one type of turkey call. It starts out with a long
section on Cost's famous paddle calls featuring over
100 of the approximately 150 known Neil Cost Paddle
Boxes. It then has a short section on his Scratch
Boxes, Hen Tricks, Trumpet Yelper and Slate Peg and
Pot calls. It ends with another long section on his
short boxes of which there were about 5,000 made during
Cost's callmaking career.
If you are a turkey call
collector, a turkey hunter or if you simply need a
gift for a turkey hunting fanatic, I highly recommend
this book.
