|
E. L. made about
40 calls in the beginning that
were glued together using 3 parts
for the top half and 3 parts for
the bottom.

|
The very first
calls offered by E. L. did not
have a label but instead were
marked with a rubber stamp.

~1964
|
The
very first labeled calls came with
a silver label which had "Pat
Pend" printed vertically on
the ends of the label since the
patent was still in the approval
process. They were also stamped
with "Pat Pend." on the
inside of the slate top of the call
and the bottom of the call. They
are made from mahogany and the circular
cutout underneath the slate is offset
to one side. |

There
were also some calls made with a
yellow label which had "Pat

~1968
|
The
yellow label calls were available
from around 1966 to about 1968.
Exact dates are hard to come up
with since the color of the label
didn't seem important at the time
and wasn't noted in Wisor's records.
Also, there was always a carryover
of calls from year to year so it's
impossible to say exactly when a
call was made The glue on the yellow
labels was not very good and in
many cases the ends would roll up.
They were later replaced because
of this problem |

~1968 - 1995
|
Silver
label calls were available from
1968 to 1995. He began stamping
the date inside the calls during
this period but it is not known
exactly which year this started. |

1995 - 2000
|
The
last run of calls were given a brown
label and also had the date stamped
inside. His custom calls he's selling
now are made using the leftover
stock from the 2000 production year. |

1999 - current
|
E. L. retired in
2000 and stopped selling his calls
commercially. He is now producing
limited edition, signed calls from
his remaining stock.
E L. produced
a limited run of seven calls with
custom artwork to commemorate
the 37th anniversary of his call
making. The call shown is #2 of
7 made in 1999. Throughout the
years before 1999, he also personalized
about 50 calls, mainly for friends
and family..
He is currently
producing signed, limited edition
calls from the calls left in his
stockroom. Some of these are just
signed with a nice finish and
others feature both pen artwork
and paintings. These are generally
being auctioned off on Ebay so
keep an eye out for them.

1965 - 1984

|
E. L. produced
thousands of calls which he wholesaled
to the Penn's Woods company from
1965 to 1988. Production averaged
about 5,000 calls a year with
a total of about 90,000 calls
made. There was also a last run
in 1994 of about 2000 calls. The
calls were given the name Roger
Latham slate.

1991
|
Penn's
Woods sold a limited "Classic
Edition" of the
Roger Latham Slate made from
walnut with a foil label. There
were supposed to be 2,000 of these
calls made but production stopped
a few shy of that number. |
